The long-awaited update to the Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.2 is now available.
The Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.3 comes from Chopard’s luxury subsidiary. La Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud is frequently the beneficiary of the company’s most complex and intricate designs.
The FB 1.3 fulfills expectations with special updates to the original watch, updates which took nearly 6 years to develop. Featuring a complication similar to the FB 1, the in-house fusée-and-chain-driven movement boasts a shorter gestation cycle than that timepiece, as well as a special cylindrical build which contains the dial and movement.
The new timepiece is designed with a 44mm 950 platinum case, anthracite gray ceramic lugs, and a solid nickel silver dial. Thanks to four “windows” in the sapphire, the wearer gets an inside view of the inner workings of the movement.
The dial is worthy of attention as well, featuring a black lacquer sub-dial and faceted white gold hour and minute hands inspired by one of Berthoud’s designs. The most striking feature of the timepiece, though, is the black seconds hand with a 60-second tourbillon beneath.
The Chronométrie Ferdinand Berthoud FB 1.3 comes with a black alligator strap. It is priced at $260,400.
